The VP of Finance is responsible for managing the Finance Department, Cost Accounting responsibilities and ensuring accurate and timely financial statements to the Board of Directors, CEO, CFO, and applicable Department Heads.



  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department.
  • Oversee the all transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
  • Management of all working capital components such that AR, AP, and inventory balances are optimized


  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  • Process payroll in a timely manner
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Work with supply chain to implement tight controls over all aspects of inventory


  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide for a system of management cost reports
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations


  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Issue timely and accurate financial statements
  • Develop and improve the annual budget process including monthly Departmental reviews
  • Manage the daily cash flow
  • Oversee the external audits and ensure no material misstatements
  • Handle other financial reporting including Board slides, Weekly Flash Reports, Monthly and Annual Financial Package, etc.
  • Support the quarterly covenant reporting
  • Partnering with the Supply Chain for inventory cycle counts and physical inventories
  • Work closely with Purchasing, QA/QC, Warehouse, and Production to ensure accurate financial statements related to cost of sales and inventory
  • Work with the Production Dept to create procedures for inventory activity not captured in ERP system
  • Provide analytics and reports to the management team on manufacturing costs


Bachelor/Master degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA designation preferred


10+ years of related accounting experience preferably in a food manufacturing environment
5+ years in a VP of Finance or similar senior accounting department role
Previous experience in Private Equity backed business
Minimum 5 years cost accounting experience


Oversight of Finance personnel; AP Accountant, AR Accountant, Payroll Accountant, Staff Accountant, Cost Accountant or Other
